Our 3D Printing Service

On-Demand Printing

3D printing is a great and disruptive technology. It is getting implemented in various industries from medical, automotive to spaceflight. Printing on-demand brings this technology to individuals and small companies for one-off or rapid prototyping prints. Whether it is a figurine as a gift to a child, a part of an appliance that broke and needs replacement, a container that fits a specific function or a new revolutionary product; on-demand 3d printing can help you.

Make contact with us, and let us know what your needs are.

Printing Materials

PLA - PLA is a corn starch based thermal polymer. It is a hard plastic, available in various colors and styles.

PETG - PETG is a polymer that is greatly recycle-able, triangle nr 1. It is quite hard, and available in limited colors.

Flexible - Flexible polymers gives a rubber-like feel, in various stiffness ratings. Flexible is available in very limited colors.

If you are in need for different materials, please make contact and we can see if we can accommodate your requirements.

Linear Scaling & FDM

FDM 3d printing is the process of laying down lines of molten plastic, forming layers and finally objects. Since the lines need to be placed by the head, it takes time to lay each layer, and there are very little scale by numbers - if one unit takes 1 hour, then 10 units will take 10 hours.

The counter to this, is to use printers with more than 1 head, in ditto-mode (duplicate mode), it utilize both heads to perform the same print, at the same time (slightly offset from each other). This allows 2 units to print at the same time, thus halving the required time for the same number of units (as long as both heads can be used at the same time).

Due to having to offset the 2 units being printed at the same time, it greatly reduces the maximum size of objects that can be printed.

Quality of 3D printing

Our current capability is printing with layer heights between 0.06mm and 0.5mm. Layer height is the resolution in the Z-axis of the object. Since layers are laid down on top of other layers this layer height is the minimum resolution available. The layer height also determines the time a print will take - smaller layer height takes longer to print, but the print looks better; taller layer heights takes less time to print, but gives a rough look.

Our printers are capable to print between 0.06m and 0.5mm layer heights. Let us know what your requirements are.

Object Sizes

Due to size constraints on our various machines, depending on materials and other capabilities you might need, we might have maximum sizes for what can be printed. Due to the nature of 3D printing, it is also possible to take a large object and cut it into smaller sections that can be printed more easily, and finally glued together.

Please make contact with us to discuss your needs, we can try to accommodate your needs.

Printing Prices

We currently have 2 standard pricing calculations for printing:
1) R60 flat rate per hour (calculated per 15 minutes).
2) R250 fixed + R30 per hour (calculated per 15 minutes).

For print jobs up to 8 hours, the first rate is cheapest and is used. For longer print jobs, the 2nd rate is cheaper and is used. Note that some materials require slower printing and thus makes up the difference in price of those materials (flexible is printed very slowly, but is also a more expensive material).
